"Many more people could ride out the storm-tossed waves in their economic
lives if they had their year's supply of food . . . and were debt-free. Today
we find that many have followed this counsel in reverse: they
have at least a year's supply of debt and are food free."
~President Thomas S. Monson
"The best place to have some food set aside is within our homes. . . . "We can begin ever so modestly.
We can begin with a one week's food supply and gradually build it to a month, and then to three months. . .
. I fear that so many feel that a long-term food supply is so far beyond their reach that they make no effort
at all.”
~President Gordon B. Hinckley
Harmony Bluff Ward has established a Provident Living Plan to help our members begin 'ever so modestly' and work on their food supply. The program has three levels: Level 1: 72-hour Preparedness, Level 2: 3-month Food Storage, Level 3: Long-term Food Storage.
Should you want to participate, you can evaluate the needs of your family and pick which level you want to focus on first.
On the left-hand column on this blog, you can click on "Provident Living Plan" for all blog posts related to provident living. You can also click on "level 1," level 2," or "level 3" to find the posts specific to the level you are working on. Good Luck!
